Read A Comic Book Week Challenge

Greetings comic book aficionados!

I would like to remind everyone of an event starting May 1st that goes hand in hand with Free Comic Book Day. Read A Comic Book in Public Week is an event that happens three times a year, the first week of January, May and September.

During these weeks, comic book enthusiasts are encouraged to take their comic books out with them and read them in public - on the bus, in the coffee shop, at lunch, at the park, or anywhere (as long as it isn't disruptive to work, school, church, or any other functions).

The point is to make the comic book hobby more visible, to get it "out of the basement" and into public areas where more people can see it. This will make others more aware of the hobby - some may ask you what your comic book is about, giving you the opportunity to explain the hobby to them. A few of those may be interested enough to try it themselves. Former comic readers may see what you're reading and think about the great times they used to have when they collected, and possibly even start again.

I propose a challenge to everyone to attend, and as proof post a picture of yourself, family members, and/or friends clearly reading comics in a public place. No posing with a comic in front of a landmark or sign, etc. Now here's the fun part, as a bonus, if you are pictured reading a WTFC title, you will receive something special.

The challenge runs from Saturday, May 1st to Friday, May 7th.
